Five Crowns Marketing, based in Brawley, California, recently demonstrated the power of making electric choices by installing a 2.2-megawatt photovoltaic system on company grounds.
According to the website TheGrower, the solar power system was completed in less than three months and is the largest of its kind in the Imperial Valley.
About 10 percent of the system's solar cells are mounted on the building's roof, while the others are on fixed racks on the ground, the source reported.
“We are excited about the project’s completion,” said Bill Colace, co-owner of Five Crowns. “Not only does it make sense for the environment, but it makes long-term business sense as well and supports Five Crowns’ commitment to sustainable agriculture.”
The source stated that the solar power system is expected to offset an estimated 85 percent of power demands of the cooling facility and processing plant for Prima Bella Produce in Tracy, California, which is a partner of Five Crowns.
Five Crowns was established in 2007 and has an estimated annual revenue of $500,000-$1 million, according to the website Manta.
