Arizona State will go green for this year's homecoming. ASU is planning on using green energy for electricity during their upcoming game against Colorado State at Sun Devil Stadium.
Arizona State University has a 5-2 record this season, but the real news recently was about the school's initiatives to include renewable energy in the rest of the football season.
IMG College and Arizona State University recently purchased 125,000 kilowatt hours of renewable energy, which will provide enough electricity for the homecoming game, as well as the remaining games of the season at Sun Devil Stadium.
The goal is also to provide an opportunity for officials to promote renewable energy to the people of Arizona and to show them the benefits of using green energy. Fans at the game will have the opportunity to win Sun Devil merchandise by answering trivia questions related to renewable energy, which will provide an interactive educational experience for those in attendance.
During the game, the scoreboard will periodically show solar energy facts to educate fans.
The NFL's Philadelphia Eagles also announced recently that they plan on using renewable energy resources in order to provide electricity to their stadium, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
