Wind power heavyweight Iowa is slated to host the 5th Annual Wind Conference this April.
The conference, hosted by the Iowa Wind Energy Association, will occur from April 9-11 at Des Moines' Iowa Events Center. This year's theme is "Iowa Wind Power: A Model for America." Given that Iowa is among the top wind producers the nation - the state is currently No. 2 for wind production - the conference aims to create dialogue for how other states can follow the example of Iowa to make better use of the green energy source. The state currently gets 20 percent of its electricity from wind.
With more than 60 exhibitors expected to attend, guests to the conference can take in a number of information sessions on energy storage, community wind projects and alternative uses for wind energy. Many Iowa universities and colleges will display their research projects on renewable energy. The conference keynote speaker is Denise Bode, CEO of the American Wind Energy Association.
Very proud of its status as a leading wind energy producer, Iowa recently held a Wind Energy Day. Occurring at the state capitol, the event took place on February 7.
