Plans are being made by Guernsey-based American Renewable Energy Associates to use trash to produce electricity in Wyoming.
The company is planning to build power plants in the Wyoming cities of Cheyenne and Guernsey that would burn trash to produce electricity.
According to The Associated Press, the green energy plant in Guernsey would process 150 tons of garbage daily and produced 9 megawatts, while the Cheyenne plant would process 200 tons and produce 13 megawatts per day.
The power plants, which are on schedule to be opened next year, would stimulate the economy by providing jobs for the people of Wyoming. A third power plant is being planned for Riverton.
AREA has secured rights to the technology and resources it needs to covert the garbage into a gas that fires boilers, whose steam drives turbines that produce electricity, a company spokesperson said.
Wyoming is making progress with multiple renewable energy projects, also having three green energy projects fast-tracked recently by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
