The U.S. Bureau of Land Management recently announced it will fast-track three Wyoming green energy projects in 2012.
The BLM included the three Wyoming projects in a list of 17 renewable energy projects that will receive an increased amount of focus next year. The projects in Wyoming will be the Sand Hills Ranch, Chokecherry/Sierra Madre and White Mountain.
Bill Miller, a leader of the state's energy industry, said the BLM priority status will help Wyoming produce affordable green energy not just for Wyoming, but California and other states.
The Chokecherry/Sierra Madre project is the largest wind farm on the bureau's list to complete in 2012, according to the Casper Star-Tribune. The final impact statement for the 2,000 to 3,000 megawatt project, which will be the largest of its kind in North America, is planned to be released next year. The White Mountain project will be home to around 240 wind turbines and is set to be under construction soon.
According to The Associated Press, Wyoming is also planning to build three power plants that would burn trash to produce electricity.
