The administration of Governor Duval Patrick recently took a huge step towards its goal of creating more sources of renewable energy and encouraging energy efficiency in Massachusetts.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection/Department of Energy Resources Clean Energy Results Program was recently launched by the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
The program is aimed at furthering the development of clean energy projects in Massachusetts. Increasing energy production from anaerobic and aerobic digestion by 50 megawatts in the next eight years is among the goals of the program.
"The Clean Energy Results Program is the latest chapter in the successful integration of energy and the environment under Governor Patrick's leadership," said Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Richard K. Sullivan. "Development of greener, less-polluting energy sources is a core focus of the Governor's environmental and public health goals for the Commonwealth."
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center recently announced increased growth in the Massachusetts clean energy economy, which is now employing more than 64,000 people.
A recent law was also passed in Massachusetts requiring utilities to purchase more electricity from green energy sources to make the state 25 percent reliant on renewable resources by 2030.
