The installation of a 330-foot wind turbine on the campus of Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School in Charlton, Massachusetts, has reportedly been approved.
The Worcester Telegram reports that the turbine was one of three that have been put up for review, with the other two potentially being located in the town center.
According to the news source, the local planning board was tasked with deciding whether or not the 330-foot turbine adhered to state regulations.
"Our goal is still to have a foundation in by late fall and a turbine operating by late spring," school superintendent David P. Papagni told the Southern Worcester County Regional Vocational School Committee. "The planning board is in full favor of our project and we meet all state guidelines."
Papagni added that he is also planning to seek approval for a 30-foot wind turbine that would serve as an educational tool for the school's new clean energy facility, the news provider reports.
The approval of the Massachusetts turbine comes just ahead of the Kingdom Community Wind project in Vermont, which is expected to begin construction in August. The project could reportedly generate enough power for 24,000 homes, according to Bloomberg.
