New Jersey Governor Chris Christie recently unveiled his ideas for a new green energy plan that centers around solar power, among other efficient sources.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the governor detailed the substantial plan more than one year after his administration vowed to revise the strategy devised by the previous administration.
The 141-page plan, which the governor unveiled at a recent news conference, reflects a commitment to renewable energy and seeks reconsideration of a number of green energy projects such as those featuring solar power.
In the report, Governor Christie explained that his administration was looking to lower the goal for the percentage of renewable resources to 22.5 percent by 2021, as opposed to the 30 percent required by former Governor Jon S. Corzine's energy plan.
However, Christie did say that he was "trying to create an entire basket of options" for green energy sources, also including the potential for harnessing offshore wind, according to the news source.
The New York Times reports that the new plan emphasizes support for such offshore wind projects as well as larger-scale solar energy projects for brownfield sites and landfills.
